Need a Body Double?

Do you need an experienced coach to be your body double via Skype or FaceTime? Someone who can help you with projects that are difficult to start, stick with and/or finish?

If you are procrastinating because you are saying to yourself any of the following, reach out for help and call Coach Sandy:

  • I don’t have enough bandwidth right now.
  • I’ll do it tomorrow.
  • I’m too tired.
  • I don’t want/like to do it.
  • I’m not sure how to start.
  • I don’t have enough time right now.
  • I still have time to do it later.
  • XYZ is easier to do.
  • XYZ is more important right now.

Why a body double?

Studies have shown that just having someone in the room with us makes us more productive. It’s sometimes overwhelming for many of us to get started on a ‘scary’ project. Distractions become too hard to avoid and we are more likely to impulsively change our minds and decide in the moment that something else is suddenly urgent and should take priority. If working from home, we become too tempted to go to the fridge or surf the net! We all know that once we really get into a project it’s never as bad as we thought it would be.

How does it work?

To get started on a project, all it takes is a few minutes with an experienced body double who can ask just the right questions to get you focused and keep you going. A body double is someone who is non-judgmental and is there to support you in a comforting space. Let’s face it, we all need a nudge now and then to get started on those things we have procrastinated for far too long.

Cost/Benefits:

Fifteen-minute appointments are available for only $20. Experience has shown that 15 minutes is typically sufficient to get you over the procrastination hump. For accountability you can book-end your work session with another 15-minute appointment at the end to report how far you got, what your next steps are and to self-report on distractions. Bookending in this way can build self-awareness that is beneficial in reducing procrastination and avoiding distractions.
